The Rotary Club of Mont Albert & Surrey Hills is holding a walk for mental health on Sunday 21 March at Gardiners Creek Reserve, Box Hill South. This event will be the first for Melbourne, second for Victoria and in the future, Australian Rotary Health plan to have around 60 of these Lift the Lid walks around Australia. All proceeds will be supporting research into mental health.
Jeff Kennett has agreed to become one of the ambassadors for our event in Gardiners Creek and he will also be giving a short talk, prior to the 8am start.
Walkers can choose from 6, 12 or 18kms to walk. We will be making the 3km laps of Gardiners Creek Reserve lots of fun along the way for walkers. We are looking to encourage people young and old to attend, and whether they can walk just half a lap or do the whole 18kms, they will know that their contribution is making a difference.
At the Stott St entrance will be the Lift the Lid Arch. There will be food and drinks available, plus a little something sweet. Dogs are most welcome.
Registrations on the day start at 7am, however if you register early enough prior to the event, you receive a purple Lift the Lid t-shirt as part of your registration fee, as well as a cap.

So, in 2021, we are hosting a fun, safe and virtual event that challenges you to walk, swim, or ride 4km on Malaria Awareness Day to represent the over 400,000 lives lost to malaria each year. You can sign up and donate on our website at https://ram.rawcs.com.au/malaria-awareness-day —ask your friends to get involved too, or donate to support you.
We are asking you to take a photo of yourself doing the challenge (or a selfie) so that we can share on our social media.
We want to raise $100,000 for projects in the upcoming year, so we are challenging each District to raise $5,250. Help us reach our goal!

Challenge to Lead - (Thursday 6th & Friday 7th May 2021)
How many sausage sizzles do you need to earn $500?
The Rotary Club of Doncaster is seeking referrals from District Clubs for participants in their Challenge to Lead Program. With each successful referral, the RC of Doncaster will pay the referring club $500.That’s a lot of sausage sizzles!
Why?
Throughout the District there is a pool of contacts and potential participants in management and professional positions who would either benefit themselves or recommend others who would benefit from the Program. It’s an easy fund raiser for a Club.
There is a high demand for good leadership. It is a must-have capability for any individual or organisation wanting to get ahead in the world and achieve and earn more. Leadership can be taught, learnt and developed and this course will help in this regard.
Australian Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians - Maroochydore Tournament 2021
The 43rd annual tournament of the Australian Fellowship of Golfing Rotarians will be held at the Maroochy River Golf Club, Maroochydore, Queensland from May 16th to 22nd 2021.
The event is held on a seven-year rotation between the Australian states and territories, raising significant funds for projects and fostering fellowship between Rotarians and guests from across the country. The fellowship also extends to those who do not play golf with a series of tours and visits to local places of interest. We all get together at various functions during the week. Some have continued to attend the AGFR annual events for over 20 years due to the great fellowship.
The Rotary club organising the tournament is awarded the privilege of donating a large amount of the proceeds to the charity(s) of their choice. The Rotary Club of Maroochydore has chosen WISHLIST as its major beneficiary. This charity is an enormous support to Sunshine Coast hospitals, their patients, families, and medicos providing funds for research, medical equipment and specialised support services improving the Medical capability of the coast for the whole community.
The extensive golf programme includes competitions for a variety of daily prizes and perpetual trophies, uniquely named after past Rotary Presidents. There will also be some other contests and games included for fun such as: longest drive, closest to the pin and hole in one.
