Ride for Medical Research

After 6 days and 595km, the last of District 9810’s rides concluded where it started, back in Seymour, following a week of challenging riding, gourmet lunches, great fun and fellowship throughout the Greater Shepparton area.

The Last District 9810 Ride, 37 rides over 39 years and covering 30,471km’s along the way.

Approximately half the participants this year were not Rotarians, but all contributed to the fundraising and got into the spirit of the ride. All reports have been positive, with requests already coming in for news of the next one.

Thanks must go to all those on the committee who pitched in to make this event happen. Thanks also to all those who took part as riders or support crew and all their donors, who make the effort of organising the event so worthwhile.

So far this year the ride raised another $33,367.00.

The Mad March Challenge added another $5,392.

Bringing the total raised this year so far to $39,759.00,

Which brings the total raised by the Ride For Medical Research and Mad March Challenge over 7 years, 6 rides and 4 Mad March Challenges to $ 288,074.00.

Bringing the total raised from all the rides over the 39 years, Pedlin’ Pete, Ride for Research $$$, Ride for Medical Research and Mad March Challenges, to $1,323,774.00, over 25% of our Districts total contributions to Australian Rotary Health, something we are very proud of.

Looking to the future and District 9815, we are pleased to announce that, yes, the ride will continue. At this stage it will become a joint project of Members of the Rotary Clubs of Boronia and Traralgon, with, hopefully, ongoing assistance from members of other Clubs throughout our expanded district. Planning is already under way, with the route being planned around the Wangaratta region, for a date yet to be confirmed, but likely in late March.
