Stroke affects an estimated 400,000 Australians aged 15 and over at some time, more than 100 events every day, and as you can see its not just about being old it can happen in children as young as one month old, in fact up to 600 children each year in Australia suffer a stroke. Eastern Health is a major leader in stroke treatment and currently does not have its own Biplane Angiogram suite leaving over 800,000 people in Melbourne’s eastern region without local access to this potentially lifesaving stroke equipment. The aim is to have this vital piece of equipment installed by 2025 and your help is needed to support this project.  As a result of the wonderful presentation, we recently had from Dr Phillip Choi ( Eastern Health Stroke Neurologist) and the overwhelming support of our club members to support the Biplane Angiogram Suite project, Rotary Box Hill Burwood has agreed to focus on this as a major fundraising campaign over the next 2 years and hope to raise $100,000.

As a result, we will be running a fun Trivia night with funds raised to go to the project to get things started.

Our “Stroke of Genius” Trivia night will be held on 25th May at St Francis Xavier Primary School in Whitehorse Road and are hoping you will all come along and support the night – please feel free to invite family, friends, neighbours – in fact, anyone you know!

If you can’t find 8 people to book a table we can assist you to find a fun table to sit on for the night. If you can’t attend you can even just make a donation through the TRYBOOKING link below as well.

I can guarantee a fun night with a great variety of questions and games – I promise it won’t be too hard and you will have a blast. Categories will include Sport, General Knowledge, Music, Film etc – something for everyone.

If you have any contacts for donations we would appreciate you assisting us to source some sort of prizes to add to a raffle/auction on the evening of the Stroke of Genius Trivia night. No support is too small or too large, and every dollar raised will assist. We would be more than happy to acknowledge our donor’s assistance on our social media pages and website. We rely on the generosity and support of donors to continue our work and make a difference in many lives.

Thank you for being a part of our community and helping us to achieve our vision. We look forward to seeing you on the 25th May.

If you are interested in joining our fundraising project or would like to hear more please let me know and I am more than happy to answer what I can as well as connect you with Eastern Health and Dr Choi – his passion for the project is infectious.
