the weeks ahead...

Saturday 5th March 2022

Building Bridges Through Story” will be a celebration of diversity; an opportunity to build community and establish lasting connections that foster inclusion and respect and begin to break down the walls in our society. Walls built by ignorance and fear of people of different colour, race, culture, gender, religion, birth place and socio-economic status.

Through the encouragement of experienced and empathetic facilitators, we will listen to the stories of people from three groups; First Australians, people with Disabilities, and Muslim women.

It will be an engagement of the heart. A deep listening to the real stories of people who have experienced the pain and suffering as a result of being excluded, ignored, treated to unjust laws, discriminated against and often abused in public.

Every story told, is a piece of us; a gift to the listener; an attempt to find a deeper connection with other minority groups in our own community.

A bridge can be one way to reach a destination or solution. It can represent a transition – a crossing over – taking a journey from death to ‘new life’. A bridge can be a symbol of hope but for some, it can be a challenge. A struggle to overcome an obstacle or a barrier.

The event will take place Saturday (5 March) at Manningham Uniting Church Community Centre, Wood Street, Templestowe or via live streaming to your house

Yes it’s back.  After a pandemic delayed start, the next annual “Ride For Medical Research” will take place March 6 - 11, 2022. Having now raised over $1.2 million for Australian Rotary Health we look forward to pushing this to over $1.3milion in the near future.

Registration for this popular fundraising event will open on the 14th of November 2021 with strictly limited numbers, so get in early to secure your place.

Join us for the “Kelly Country Encounters Tour” 2022

The ride next year will be centered around the great cycling area of Wangaratta, taking in the King Valley, Beechworth, the painted silos in the region and more. See the web site for more information and registration details.

Sunday 27th March to Friday 1st April 2022

The Australian Fellowship of Golfing Rotarians are holding their annual tournament from the 27th of March 2022 to the 1st of April 2022 at the Claremont Golf Course situated in the suburbs of Hobart right next to the Cadbury factory. The golf course has been refurbished as has the Club House. I have a presentation video and registration forms as well as a flyer if you wish to publish it in your Club Bulletin. The brochure gives you a glimpse of what you can expect with the program. Be brave, be positive, and be confident that you will be able to meet with other golfing Rotarians or in some cases Past Rotarians and their partners in fellowship and the pursuit of golfing glory.
