.....and 24th October is WORLD POLIO DAY
A letter was circulated to all members this week by David Grieve bringing us up to date with contributions by clubs to the End Polio Now campaign so far this year.
In addition, David encourages clubs to raise awareness of the End Polio campaign during the month of October and even host a fund raising event.

Update on End Polio Now Program
October is End Polio Month and 24th October is WORLD POLIO DAY
It is with great pleasure to announce that the target of 10 Clubs donating $1,000 US to End Polio Now has been achieved. Congratulations and thank you to the following clubs:
- Bentleigh Moorabbin Central
- Boronia
- Box Hill Central
- Emerald and District
- Manningham City
- Mont Albert and Surrey Hills
- Nunawading
- Oakleigh Clayton Huntingdale
- Wandin
- Warrandyte Donvale
Currently our goals for 2023-24 are as follows:
- 55% of Clubs donating $1,550 ($US1,000)
- Raise $69,000 ($US45,000)
Our progress to date is as follows:
- 23% of Clubs have donated $US1,000
- Raised $US17,226.53
As next month – OCTOBER is End Polio Month we strongly encourage each Club both raise awareness both within your Club and your local community and host a fund raising event.
Here are some ideas that will achieve the two goals of raising awareness and raising funds:
- Film night at local cinema
- Have a guest speaker at your Club presenting about Polio and invite the public
- Conduct a Walkathon in your local district
- Have a stall in a local market with members in End Polio Now apparel
- Host a Trivia or Bingo night
- Involve local Interact Club and present to local school
- Car wash
- BBQ at local Bunnings with funds raised going to End Polio Now
- Virtual sporting events utilising social media
- Post events on your Club’s Facebook page
