The District Sustainable Communities Community sincerely thanks the Blackburn South Community Bank, Branch of Bendigo, for their generous gift of a Defibrillator.

Through my involvement with the Sustainable Communities Committee I felt our procedures for Risk Assessment fell short, especially when we were on location in the country. Quite often, our work of tree planting was out in the boondocks, usually some distance from help if one of the group on the tree planting expedition was to come into trouble.

I wrote to Past President and Past Assistant Governor Diane Fisher, who is Deputy Chair of the Blackburn South Community Bank Branch, and asked whether the SCC was eligible for such a device. Diane asked us to put in an application which was duly processed.

A few weeks later Diane advised me the Defibrillator was approved by Whitehorse Community Enterprises Limited (the grants arm of the bank).

Also, when the SCC is not on an expedition to a tree planting or grass planting day, the Defibrillator can be loaned to other District Chairs or Club Presidents for their events and programs, i.e. golf days, fairs, markets, RYLA and RYPEN to name a few.

I will keep a logbook/diary for those wishing to avail themselves of the Defibrillator, so contact me to book in your use.
